Default 2011 FLHTCU ignition/electrical issue

Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone has ever experienced the issue I am having with my Ultra. I bought it used approx. 3 years ago in the fall, the following riding season I notice while riding one day that my right turn signal indicator was not blinkin.
I couldn't make it work by resetting it it either. I pulled over, shut the bike off and restarted it, and everything was back to normal. It only happened once in a awhile so I didn't really panic. I tried to ride last Sunday and got a few miles from home when I noticed the security key was on solid red.
At that point i also had no turn signal but I had never seen the key do this. Typically, it flashes every few seconds and doesn't come on solid red unless you try to start it without the FOB present. Then when you start the bike it goes out. It is a factory security system insatlled after the fact by a local dealer shortly after i bought the bike.
I didn't dare shut it off so i rode it home and looked around on the internet for something on the security system. Eventually, after trying some things which involved cycling the ignition everything went back to normal. I decided to go back out and grab some food and when i got ready to leave I had no turn indicator and the security key was back on solid. I shut the bike of, restarted it and it was OK so I went for a ride with no further issues. That being said, it's just a matter of time before it comes back. The security key is the thing that has me puzzled. I am wondering if it is a bad spot in the ignition but i hate the thought of putting it in the shop this time of year with a potential intermittent electrical issue. Anyway, I'm just curious if anyone has ever experienced or heard of this. Thanks, Ride safe! Dale

My suggestion is to first get a new battery for your FOB, that may be the solid light problem, if not, never hurts to have an extra battery around. The turn signal problem happened to me on my 09 Ultra. I didn't find the problem, so took into dealer who found a shorted wire under the seat per the SM. That's all I have.

Check the flasher bulb and replace if it looks dirty or dodgy - swap it with the other side to see if the problem moves or stays put.

+2 on replacing the FOB battery first. Could be getting to life span. Also have you pulled the Diag codes? If you see a few "U" codes, that might help you resolve. Those are info or communication codes. Fuel Moto has a nice breakdown on all the codes.

Mine stared doing the exact same thing after I installed the custom dynamics LED turn signals and load equalizer. The red key will come on every once in a while, and goes away only after a restart. Weird

I replaced my bulbs with orange versions and I ended up with too much of the dioelectric grease or what ever it's called which caused issues. Strange little issue.
