Default '03 FLHT tire size

Does anyone know if my '03 FLHTPI can fit an Avon 140 on the rear? Factory size Dunlop is a 130 but the Avon Cobra isn't available in that size.

If you have the narrow 1 1/8" belt you should be able to use a 150/80.

Might have been introduced the following year. When I installed an Avon 140/90 on my earlier bike, with the 1 1/2" belt, I found that I had to trim the rubber belt-guard skirt to get tyre/belt clearance.

I'd be willing to do that but in looking at mine, I have only about 3/16" clearance to the belt itself. Too close I'm guessing.

With the rubber belt guard trimmed I also had just 3/16" clearance, in fact to set my rear wheel alignment I used a 3/16" allen key as a 'feeler' gauge! I ran like that for several years without problems.

You had 3/16" with a 130 in place?

No, a 140/90 Avon Venom, which stro1965 asked about.

Ok, thanks. I have 3/16" with my 130 in place so I think I'd be in trouble mounting a 140.
