I've got an '01 EGS with the Metz 140. I had some rubbing andI removed the rubber part of the chain guard and that solved the rubbing.

did it on my 01 roadking and EGC.
Didn't need any spacers.
Did how ever, need to cut a slot in the inner mudflap for belt.
On the Roadking had to gently pry outwards on the rear fend left side near the top.
While you have the tire off, you can get some fender adjustment with the front mounting
bolt.

I need new tires and was told that I can put a 140 rear tire (stock is a 130 rear tire). This is about 1/2 inch wider than stock. According to my source, extra spacers can be uses to space the wheel/rim so the drive belt will not rub the sidewall of the rear tire.

Has anyone done this? I think the 140's are already on the newer model dressers.
If you happen to have pics and detailed instructions that would be great.

jbhawley I'm running a 150 on an 01 andI didn't have to change spacers or anything for that matter. I did leave the belt guard off though.

Hey...good info on this gang!

I found the Pingle rear spacer.
http://www.pingelonline.com/rear_sprocket_spacer.htm
I will either order one from them today or contact my local aftermarket dealer and see if he can get one...I have a 10% discount with him, plus he can get parts quicker than I can.

Does anyone happen to have a pic of what the set up looks like with the spacer and the 140 tire installed. I would like to see the actual spacer attached to the bike and how it 'moves' the drive belt. There is quite a bit of 'play' room in the primary where the drive belt contacts the primary gears, I am just courious to how this looks.

i have had 2 MU85s on my 01 RK with no modifications and no rubbing. MU85 is 143mm. best benefit is the extra 2/32s thread depth and the extra load capacity.

The 140 Metz is on the back, plenty of room, no mods needed.

I am running the Dunlop 402 MU85 on my 01 FLHTC, I also had to take off the inner rubber on the belt guard. The beltis running DAMN close to the tire.

I don't get it about the spacer though, If you put something in there to move the pulley over, now your belt won't be tracking true ??? unless you also space out the trans pulley. ( a lot of work if you don't already have it apart for something else.)

I think the later models went with a narrower belt to make room for the wider tire.

Put a 140 on my '01 RKC - Wear rating & weight carring cap was better then the 130... No Spacer or shimm but it did rub the belt guard a bit - just removed the guard and no problems - Should last longer then you 130 did
