If I want to know what the temp is I just look at a bank sign. The guage is a waste of real estate on the fairing.

I replaced mine with the HD elctric compass. Save your time & MONEY, that a waste of fairing real estate too. Go with oil temp or nothing.

What use is it to know if it is 85 degrees or 90 degrees? Honest, just curious about what use accurate ambient air temperature information is to rider, passenger, or motorcycle?

My '04 police model EG never had an air gauge and when I installed the spun aluminum gauges did as others suggested, installed an oil temp gauge along with the useful three other 2" gauges.

With patience, it is an easy install. Do not put sending unit inline as suggested by HD. In the oil pan makes for a far less complicated job.

Mine is bad also, swaping for an Oil temp guage sounds good to me. Not to hijack the thread but how tough is the install?

The way I see it, The air guage is a cheap way of filling out the dash, it is worthless!!!! Mine is 20-30 degrees off too!! Maybe they should have put a makeup mirror in there for the Wife!

The air temp gauge is worthless. Replace it with an oil temp gauge.

Dealer fixed mine last year under warranty, but claimed HDMOCO knows about it but won't do anything because not enough people have filed complaints with the factory.
different dealer put a new fairing on last month because of an accident.
Now the gauge reads 20-30 degrees high again.
I'm getting dyno tune this weekend will have it reworked again.
The new dealer states the same as above.

Complain loud and hard to be fixed under warranty.

My 07 ultra classic air temp gage always shows many degrees too high. I don't expect that it should be exact but 20 degrees, come on. Anyone else have that problem? Maybe mine is bad.

That guage is showing you the temp inside your helmet, at least thats the only thing that I can think of that is close to the same temp that it reads.
