at the first stop of many yesterday on the Scottsdale Harley Prostate Cancer ride I came out and got on the bike and started her up and NO Gauges. The lights on the speedo and tach work but not the gauges and the 4 small gauges are dead. The headlights work and the turn signals work as well. No lights on the 4 small gauges or the Neutral light. I changes the 15 amp fuse for accessories today but no help. The fuse was shot. Any ideas? Thanks all. It's bike week I am not a mechanic and all of the dealers are swamped. I was to go on the rides but not without gauges, Fuel Temp, Oil pres, air temp and especially speedo and tach. HELP!

 

Did you check all fuses? Battery fuse?
Did you look for codes?

you said the fuse was shot? was that the original fuse, or the new one you put in. If the new one blew right after you put it in, you have some wiring somewhere shorting out to ground.

 

Sounds like you have a pinched wire in the handlebar controls. When were the bars changed or the hand controls opened ? I had a pinched wire for about a year but something else precipitated the short that took out most of the electrics.

 

Check all fuses, especially the Accessory, Battery, & Instruments fuses.

 

Welcome to the forum on a not so good note. The instrument fuse would the next fuse to look at. What was the last thing done to the bike?
