ORIGINAL: cabbage

well, start spending....this is my current predicament....so far im thinking:

- some form of new seat setup....id like one that gives look of solo, with ability to then easily add on the passenger part when need be....one of those sweet motherwell racks i see some of you wielding look pretty sweet as well.

- stage 1 setup of some flavor or another.

- the tour gear setup that allows for the added storage box.

- chubby 518 beach bars.

what am i missing.
Which RK? Here are some ideas, assuming it is an '07. If not, part numbers may be different:

1. Oil cooler (26155-07)
2. Cruise Control (77196-07). This is standard on the RKC.
3. Wind Deflectors (58121-85B). Keeps wind from coming up under the tank, greatly reducing turbulence and noise.
4. Seat (Mustang or Corbin)
5. Mufflers, EFI upgrade, Air cleaner. Many options here.
6. Kuryakyn Premium Iso Grips (#6214). Unless you have a styling agenda, there is no reason to look elsewhere. Most comfortable grips on the market.
7. Saddlebag guard bags (90939-97 & 90955-97). Keeps things at arms' reach while riding.
8. Chopped or King Tour Pak, only if you tour or need extra room. Buy quick-release solo or two-up TP rack. Beware: This will eat up almost half of your budget.

thanks, some great stuff here...this is what it appears the 2400 extra i added on the financing will go:

Chubby Bars - (i actually bought these outside the dealer, thus i have the bars and the 2400 remains..woohoo)

Exhaust - This sill be part of the 2400, once i decide which way to go

Hard bags - (bought new hard RK bags and will sell the leather bags.....total negative in this trade here is expected to be about $500....ouch)

garage door opener - $125 (steep, but i gotta have it)

thats about all i can think of now, except perhaps some chrome pieces, and perhaps that wind deflector thing, if it helps alot with the wind when riding sans a ferring.

Its a Road King! Gotta start with the basic for all Road Kings.

A new seat and new handle bars.

Now its ridable! Spend the rest how you want.

Definitely want to change the exhaust...even if only swapping stock for SE or Rinehart slip-ons.

Stage 1 is a basic requirement before many other things. This will give you that deep Harley sound, some added performance, and some respect when you roll into your buds place with your new scoot.

Decent Exhaust System (Rinehart True Duals) 800.00
Zippers Hi Flow A/C 200.00
Thundermax Auto Tuner 745.00

Then i'd add a niceMustang Solo Seat 299.00
Then the rear pillion for the wife? 189.00
Some bling bling and your all in! 300.00

Enjoy!
