Default Cleaning up oil after fluid change?

I asked this in another post and did not get many replies so here goes. After having the 1000 mile service at a local indy that worked at HD for 20 years he used brake cleaner to clean up the oil that leaked out when replacing the oil filter. He said that he has done this for years with no problem of damage to the wrinkle painted motors. What do you use to clean the area under the oil filter?

hd makes a drain trough as well as drag specialties, use this and you wont get oil every where! you just slide it under your filter and it drains the oil out past your left floorboard.

I cut a round windex bottle in half lengthwise and cup it under the filter. the nozzle reaches out past the frame on the left.

I've used Brakleen for years and never had an issue...just keep it off the body paint and lexan.

I just fold the oil filter box in half, slide it under the filter, loosen the filterand let it flow to my catch pan

I've read that repeated oil and caustic cleaners will prematurely deteriorate the rubber in the motor mount. Seems plausible, butwhether true or not, I use a 2-liter cut in half to keep itfrom getting in that area.

I just time my oil changes with washes. I change the oil and let it run every where. Right before I wash the bike, I spray the oil parts with WD-40. It cuts the oil and rinses it off. Then, I just wash the bike. No big deal. If I have to do an oil change and no wash. I do the same thing. The WD-40 will drip off and dry.

I have an indy buddy that uses brake cleaner also. While, I know it does a good job, I also wondered what the long term affects on paint and powdercoat would be.

"Greased Lightning" available at Lowe's for $6.97 a gallon. Buy yourself a qt spray bottle and refill as needed.

Spray that stuff on bare or polished aluminum and you will regret it. I learned the hard way. I sprayed it on the polished cam cover of my Ironhead. Luckily, I gave it one squirt and saw what happened quickly. It turned it white.
