Sold my 17 RKS in May of 21 and was riding a Pan Am for the last 18 or so months but now I'm back!

Dealer had it on the bike when I bought it.

It looks cool but at 6' it doesn't keep the wind off my helmet. It's smooth air, especially with the vent open, but just not for me.

I'll be selling it later this week, just ordered another Freedom Shield and the old school RK mount..

I'm going through this decision process now. We're same height. Which freedom shield did you order 18" or 20"?

So I had the 20" on my 17 RKS but I also had a Russell Day Long Seat which sat me higher.

I went with an 18" this time as I'm running the Saddlemen Dominator Solo this time around. I actually ordered it yesterday.

I'm not planning on making this one a mile cruncher like my 17... famous last words lol

Anyone else notice Rushmore sub forum is now "2014+ Touring Models"? Now all we need is for the mods to create one more category for us "2017+ Touring Models" and change that one to "2014-2016 Touring Models".

Nice! Great paint set too. I’d be interested in your Pan Am experience and decision to come back to the RKS.

Absolutely LOVED the Pan Am, did right at 21K miles on it in 18 months, it came down to a reliability issue for me. Lots of little things, nothing that shut me down (I was about to have my fuel pump replaced for the 2nd time). After a little while, all those little things add up and it just came to the point where I decided to cut my losses and move on.

The suspension and engine are just a joy on the Pan Am, I've had the RKS for 2 weeks now and I just replaced the rear suspension with Revo-A's. Yes, it made a HUGE difference but nowhere near as good as the Pan Am.

I've found I'm just a RK kinda guy, it's ticks the aesthetics and sound boxes for sure and I know I can make it almost as comfortable as the Pan Am. Performance, well it's not that kinda bike, that's what I'm telling myself anyway
