Road 6 customs now have bars for the RKS that accept the stock switch gear rather than the different ones for the glide.

Agreed! They've had them for a while now. I got mine in May 2017 and was one of the first, but they had them then.

I've seen several early-mid 2000's RK stock windshields posted for extremely cheap in my area on craigslist. Those should work on my 18 RKS as long as I picked up the $30 kit from HD that provides the bolts, grommets and acorn nuts right? thinking about riding with one for a couple of months then powdercoating the brackets and putting a freedom shield onto them.

Yep, thats what you need. Part number 58221-04. Powder coat the brackets on the shield, totally worth it to at least keep a somewhat consistent look and still have a windshield. Granted, I have a tinted Klock Werks windshield, but you get the idea.
