As above...once you get it where you want it no need to adjust very often. Every one I have had same thing. Set it and forget it.

I also have the HD Adjustable Backrest, and love it. I know others with one, and have never heard a complaint.
If you tried it, I bet you would like it.

$169 Kuryakan. Works great! Like others said once dialed in to position no need to change it.

I also own the HD adjustable backrest and like it. But, there have been a few complaints regarding the gas shock failing. Just last year the gas shock in my backrest failed.

To fix, you can either purchase a new backrest mounting plate (HD 52482-01A) or source the Suspa Varilock EL1 gas shock.

I put an adjustable backrest on mine. Rode for 2 hours today. No need to adjust. But I know on my train after a 400 mile day I put a sweatshirt between me and my bag to change the angle slightly to aleaviate some ache for that last 100 miles or so. That's why I went with the adjustable one.

I routinely ride 250 miles for an overnight work trip and sometimes, back the same day. I move the back rest throughout the trips to change positions. Love it, wouldn't want a fixed version.

Like many others, my Mustang is adjustable; I find that the only time I need to do so is when I change, for example from heavy leather jacket to tee shirt (clearly weather dependant). The thickness of the clothing on my back will change how close I am to the handlebars....YMMV.

Thank you everyone for your input. I went and purchased the adjustable one today and my new shocks from Howard should be here by the the end of today. Just trying to make the ride to Sturgis this year more comfortable
