RE: Colorado LEO Question
It seems to me that Colorado is a biker friendly state, I have never been stopped for loud pipes and both my bikes are VERY noisy. I have heard of people being stopped for a baffle check but never for non dot pipes. Come on over and enjoy the rockies.
Ah and with regards to your choice of toilet paper... let me put it this way. My brother didnt pay a ticket in phoenix, got pulled over here in CO about 3 years later. They arrested him on the spot. If you do get a ticket jsut pay it or contest it. ignoring it is like waking up a angry dog.
A pipe ticket is a "fix it" ticket also so no your bikes will not be impounded. But I would be very surprised if you had any trouble at all.
Bring your sunscreen, we are closer to the sun up here, lol.

RE: Colorado LEO Question
Before moving to the East coast, I lived in CO my entire life. I have had some...well...um..."substantially modified and out of regulation" rides over the years and never had any problems with state or local LEO's in CO...well, not for the bikes at any rate.
Colorado Springs...prob should say "no comment"...but that place is just plain oddon many levels(pardon offense to any from there).
Have fun,
SG

RE: Colorado LEO Question
Being in Co Springs, I would saythe advice you are getting is solid. Don't go rousing the city at midnight and I wouldn't suggest hitting 4 grand on the tach at a stop light either. I have been riding only a couple of years but in have friends that are stright pipes and they have no problem. Yes we have an ordinance on loud pipes, but it is mostly for neighborhoods and school zones. I have seen a couple of bikes pulled over but it seems like they all had the same colors on and probably had the same attitudes. We have altitude here not attitude. As for Manitu Springs PD, they have nothing better to do at night but sit and wait for a bike to come through with loud pipes. Just keep riding on 24 west and enjoy the ride. Take the trip up pikes peak and say you did the 14,000 foot peak instead of worrying about loud pipes. Enjoy and if you got time, stop by South Side Johnnys on Friday or Saturday night and look at all the bikes that show. Of course this is my humble newbie rant....I hope it was helpful. Remi

RE: Colorado LEO Question
They stopped the constructionof my Aunt's new house in Colorado Springs for nine months because a so called endanged field mouse lived on the property. Turned out to be just a stinking regular old mouse. Y'all be sure to set out plenty of D-CON at least three months before construction begins if you plan on buliding a house in this area. Jeeze, what's the world coming to.

RE: Colorado LEO Question
only problem with using the ticket as a dipstick rag is that pesky reciprocity issue where if you are license suspended in one state ( for non payment, failure to appear, etc.) it shows on the national database and you are suspended everywhere. Driving on a suspended license is an arrestable offense in most juristictions.
