Why black? That Candy Root Beer is very cool color.
Just personal preference and I agree the Candy root beer looks great.
This is my first Harley so when I set out to buy one I wanted to make my purchase from the local dealer to establish a relationship with them and it had to be a clean low kms bike. The colour was secondary although I preferred black at the time. They had 3 to choose from, gold, root beer and burgundy with white. The root beer one was the newest being 2011 and super super clean so I pulled the trigger knowing even if it was black I couldn't leave well enough alone. I bought the black tin set because I didn't want to sand the root beer off the original parts and this is where it gets a silly (although I know some of you already think I'm nuts or some other explicative). During the time it took from placing the order for the parts to arrive I stumbled onto Sedona orange and fell in love with it. So I thought perfect, Ill strip these black parts when they arrive and go orange. The parts arrived in perfect condition, I was expecting scratches and wear, so Im trying it in black because I like black and its a straight forward job. I have my own restoration shop so painting things isn't a problem nor is working on it. Ill sell the root beer tin set and any other parts Ive taken off so I don't end up with an extra bike in my basement in bins not to mention recoup some dough and have fun doing it. Fun is what its about right? Life is too short.

If you can swing it, why not keep the Candy Rootbeer tins. Who knows, you might get a bit tired of the black.
I can swing keeping them I just figured why have them sit around forever then sell them? I have more than too many car parts and engines clogging up my space, I was just trying to be sensible
Looks awesome! Keep us updated. Yes, those tubeless spoke lace wheels are very popular. Was hesitant at first when bought my FLHR, but then I really liked them except for the tedious cleaning, but then it keeps me out of trouble lol.

Anyone ever upgrade this rubber damper or have problems with them over time? Just curious.
I was a little surprised at how loose or not-so-tight a lot of the fasteners were on the bike. A little disconcerting was the front axle cap nuts on the bottom of the right fork! I think a little blue loctite is in order or nylock nuts.
Well I ended up with the 2017 RK wheels on the bike after all. My idea to swap the black walls onto the 2011 wire wheels was a bust when it turned out the newer front rim was a different size than the 2011 wire wheel. Now that its together I have to say I like the rims more! A few finishing touches tomorrow and it'll be done....for now.
