If there is a good indy in the vicinity, you'll get your moneys worth for any & all service work including the 1000 mile service. The indy does the work himself, does not have "stealer" on his back and depends on repeat customers & word of mouth referrals. The stealer on the other hand, has what amounts to a captive clientele and is mostly if not wholly concerned with profit. The more time a mechanic spends on a customers bike, the less profit for the stealer.
If you can't trust your dealership to do the full service I wouldn't go there. Just curious, If you don't trust them to do the full service why buy from them? When I'm looking to purchase a bike or car even for that matter, I look at all aspects of the dealership. If you don't have confidence that they won't screw you on service, how do you know they won't on the initial deal. Just my .02 cents.
I have to laugh. People call them stealerships, yet they go in there and buy the damn bike from them. If someone stole from me, I sure as hell wouldn't be buying anything from them.

I don't call them stealerships but I understand why people do.
I have never bought a bike from a dealership and have never allowed a dealership to work on my bike(s).

Then they hang official licensed Twain chrome stuff on it - Eastcoast Jim
I know, they certainly are reusable. But, I wouldn't go so far as to say that they NEVER need to be replaced, and neither would the service manual. I've replaced mine before.
