It will work fine the way I am doing it. I tend to find issues where none likely exist.
Not sure on your model year bike but the Rushmore 14 and up have a tiny vent hole in the cover gasket. It must be put back in the same position when reinstalling the cover. If a leak is a concern or occurs the cover gasket replaced should cure that leak.

Many people are unaware that there is an orientation issue with the cover and gasket. This is not mentioned in my service manual either. The correct way to replace both the cover and gasket is to put them back exactly the same way they came out.

Get it as level as you easily can, protect the bike/paint and do the work.
You can bet your bippy HD doesn't loosen hand controls or get out a level to flush/repair brakes.
Bottom line here is that you have more combined time typing and responding to questions in your two threads on this than it will take to flush the brakes.

I just did mine, on the jiffy stand about half way turned to the left was level.
