Screamin Eagle 254e cams unless you are pushing 10.5:1 compression ratio then use the Screamin Eagle 259e cams. You wont be sorry

If I were interested in upping the compression to accommodate cams past the 10.1:1+ region, what would be the best way to accomplish that? I believe that the stock compression of the 07 FLHPI is 9.6:1- is it as simple as new gaskets and heads? If a stock .045 gasket yields an approximate compression ratio of 9.6:1, would using .030 gaskets result in 10:1 compression ratio just as an example?

You'll need around 10.5 to make those cams work. And a great tune. And at least a 68t rear pulley. And I still ditched those cams for dave mackie 575's when I had em in my 103"

Now you opened a can of worms. TW-777? Head work. Lots of great cams for a stock engine. TW-222 or 555. Andrews makes nice cams.... 21, 26, 37, 48,57 and so does S&S and lots of other manufactures. I don't know if I would buy a cam on what I "might" do. Plus, I'd do it all at once as In know once I start, I want what I want. Decide on what your budget is and then go from there. You could buy a S&S 551, do the work yourself and have $300 or so into it. Or.... if you want those 777's, you will be in for thousands..... unless you have a machine shop.

Keeping all of this in mind- I believe I've found myself in the region of looking at the S&S-551, the TW-555 and the Andrews 48h and 57h respectively. I am thinking that those gear driven cams in the S&S 551-s with the easy start are tempting, but after reading a few dynos on the various mentioned ones it's difficult to decide what is going to work best. Particularly when the dyno and the price of the 57h's more than speak for themselves it appears..

-Late edit- I do believe I may have settled on the S&S 551 easy starts. My 07 Flhpi never had the recall for compression release heads done to it so the easy start cams seem like could indeed, as RevBlk put it earlier "kill two birds with one stone." Probably a project for later in the year- but good to get things planned out ahead of time.

I do a bit of "hard riding" and tend to push it a bit on the freeways- around the low and mid 80mph region. I also like to have a little bit more "oomph" to the acceleration, but would prefer it if it weren't TOO much as to cause my bagger to stand on one wheel like I'm some sort of Knievel stunt-rider type. I should also point out that under no circumstance do I ever two up. Period. This is a solo person machine.

So hit me with those cam recommendations.
Leave whats in there and find a person to tune it with knowledge and not a canned map and you might be surprized.....

I could like this a million times over. So many people spend thousands on upgrades. Then, when it comes to making the bike run right, "Boo hoo, dyno'ing is expensive. I am going to put a magic autotune box under the seat and everything will be ok". MANY important parameters those boxes can't touch.

By the way, look up "CVO Road King Riders" on facebook!

It's funny you should say something about that- as I'm planning on getting one of those fancy little "auto-tune" devices as well as having the bike dyno'd past that auto-tune function to determine whether or not new cams would even be necessary. Where I'll be taking it uses the Dynojet 250I, so the PV-1 is a solid choice as far as they're concerned.

I'm well aware that tuning takes time and money- there will be no boo-hooing here.

Not much of a facebooker so I'll have to politely pass on that one.
