Great Job on the pics.
My great grandfather fought with the 60th Tenn in the mounted infantry. (southern)
He was captured in Alabama and marched to a union prison in Delaware. One can only imagine the horror that both sides experienced in those prisons.
Every year, some friends and I go from NC to Gettysburg and ride the battlefield. It is an amazing place too.
Thanks again for the pictures.
Both my great great grandfathers fought on the side of the south. The one on mama's side was wounded and captured at the battle of Seven Pines. Grand mama (passed away now) told me that he somehow escaped. Both of them survived the war. I'd like to know more about Seven Pines but haven't done any research on it. It is my understanding that the northern prisons were aweful, too. One of the rides I plan to make is to Gettysburg battlefield. But before I go I'm going to study up on the battle.

Now that I've retired, I can do this stuff - its great. Every day is Saturday, so to speak.

My Family had men on both sides of this conflict. One of my people from Wisconsin fought with U.S. Maj Gen George H. Thomas in the Fourteenth Army Corp.and was captured by Confererate troops at Chickamauga. He wound up in Andersonville where he staid for over a year. He kept a journal, a copy of which I have. It was a tiny little paper book about the size of a cell phone. Every day he recorded events, most of which was about what food he had to eat. He survived and returned to his farm in Wisconsin. He was 40 years old when he was in Andersonville and he lived to be 93.

Very interesting, thanks for the pics. Good to document places involving the war of northern aggression.

What plant is at york?

Strange, our lives are backwards. I retired May 24th after 30 years of teaching high school and my wife will retire in 2 years from gub-ment work.

My great grandfather foughtwith the Confederacy as a 2nd Lt. and was a POW. I have a letter from prison he wrote his wife in 1863 and a picture of the two of them. It's really something to actually read a letter written in that time under those circumstances.

Harley Davidson has an assembly plant at York Pa. Just down the road from the Battlefield.
