the LRS I have seen are quite different from the KW

oranges to grapefruit.

the LRS promise is to throw air over your head- the KW promise is to plant the front end.

Why I use Freedom Shields. No distortion at all and I can use an 8" with no buffeting (I am 5'10") on my '14 Limited.

Since it seems like many OEMs measure the height differently (top of center screw, top of fairing, etc.), how tall is the stock HD shield on an Ultra?

On a 2015 Ultra, the stock shield is 10 inches high.

I'm 6'2", and the turbulence was awful. Had I known that, part of my negotiations at time of purchase would have been to change the shield to a 12", which I did later. I never thought to check the dimensions because my last Ultra had a 12" stock shield and no wind turbulence.

Btw, a person's height is not a real factor in determining what height the shield needs to be. I'm 6' 2", but only have a 32 inch pant seam. Most of my height is from waist up. If a same height person has a 34 inch inseam, he sits 2 inches farther DOWN in the saddle, and wind may never hit the rider at all.

Its a trial and error process, just like sound, wind is subjective. Some want none, others need a little. Down here in SW Fl its a trade off. You need the air to keep cool, but you need to block those bugs that are as big as birds also. I have a 8.5 Klock Werks smoked that is on my Ultra, I look over it and get no buffeting. 5'10 with a 30 inch inseam.
If you are the type that looks through the windscreen, you cannot run one with a lip or curve on the top. The distortion will be terrible.
As said, Helmets do make a difference. The fit, and design of the helmet can contribute to the turbulence you feel.
