RE: what should i pay for a new 07 RKC?
How are you going to rack up the miles on your bike? If you plan on doing a lot of touring, 2 upthen maybe the King isn't your best bet. Just asking before you drop the coin. Road Kings are HD's most popular bike so most dealers won't budge on price except for making room for the new models. That said the 08's come out in mid July some time, plus or minus a few days. You can probably get a good deal in the first week or two of July if you can find one and the Dealer wants to make room. I like the Road King but I love my Road Glide. It's got tunes man.

Just have check in hand or cash and you could shave off a few hundred dollars but not much more. But the RKC are cool. I've had mine for a little over a month.
Just go in with the color you want and tell them to find it do't settle for other colors unless they want to drop the price some more.(but they probably won't)

Having cash in hand at time of purchase, isn't what it use to be. Did the car sales thing for a bit. Dealers make better money off the financing. MSRP may be the best you can do. Don't settle for anything less than what you want. And do comparison shopping. Hopefully you have a HD dealer or two in your area. Play them against themselves as much as you can. The price might not drop much, but you may get them to throw discounts on accessories at time of purchase, or gift cards. Doesn't hurt to ask. Also, in my opinion, go with the dealer that treats you best. The one that you feel most comfortable with. Most likely you will return there for serviceand parts. You will want somebody you can trust, and that has good customer service. For me, that is key, even if you pay a bit more. A couple hundred difference in price, wont amount to much over time for really good customer service. JMHO

MSRP when I got my '07 was 17,883 (as published by HD in WI, not the dealer). Then, as someone mentioned, they stick you with freight (if it's not on the showroom) $335, and setup $379, Optional alarm is $295, optional wheels ($400). And of course they want to soak you with a 3yr unlimited mile maintenance plan - $1900 (no thanks I can change my own oil), and the 4yr extended warranty - $1800. Those plus tax can add up to about $24,000! Not to mention any goodies they may tempt you with (Screamin Eagle exhaust, or Stage 1, 2, or 3 upgrade), etc. etc. They'll tell you "yeh, do the upgrade before taking delivery and it won't affect your warranty" - nonsense: The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act (MMWA) passed by Congress in 1975 suggests otherwise (pasted below).
If you're lucky enough to have at least 2 dealers around you can shop them for a bidding war (actually an "accessory war" to see who'll throw in the most goodies).
If you're left to buy your own stuff after you buy the bike you can save a hell of a lot of money on EBay and this forum's classified section. (Go to HD's main website and look how much they want for accessories and you'll gag! There is no reason a simple little backrest should cost close to the price for a Lazy Boy!)
If you're military (or cop/firefighter)you can sometimes catch deals on the appropriate holiday sales. I got mine that way ($16,273 before some above mentioned add-ons).
Anyways, you'll forget about the cost of the bike when you're spending every chance you get to get things later (PC III, New air filter, exhaust, on and on and on). Costs more AFTER you own it![8D]
