Shifter shaft Arm

Shifter shaft Arm
Need some advice. I just put in a new compensator and since I had the primary apart I decided to remove the inner primary and replace the shifter shaft seal. I thought I had every thing marked off good but apparently when I put the shifter shaft Arm back on the shaft spline I must have positioned t incorrectly. After putting everything back tofether and trying to position my heel row shift levers the shifter arm is bottoming out on a chrome primary cover I have installed. I'm thinking about just notching the cover to accomodate then adjusting the arm linkage if need be. I'm just not sure if there is something else that could potentially be an issue, or if i should tear it all down. I'll try to attach pictures

my arm is at about 11 o'clock
( in fact the rear side of the arm is in line with the front of the 1st digit in the tranny number- it is that much forward of yours)
have a look:

according to him, the 6 speed primary case allows the lever to come off with primary in place
