Default Long antenna or short antenna?

Hi All,

I have The long antenna and would like to go with the shorter antenna. How good do the work? Or does anyone have a better idea. I have both CB and radio antenna.

Thanks Hickey

I've never used the cb so I can't speak for that, but i got tired of the whips and put on some stubbies. It cut the am/fm reception down to slightly above the level that my car could pick up. The car had the antenna wired into the rear window and the reception was less than desirable but still okay. This is simlar to what i put on --

I usually use a bluetooth dongle to stream from my phone but when i forget to charge it the radio still picks up good enough around town. get in the woods any and it's about useless.

My uncle has the harley branded short antennas and he seems to like them.

Best reception will be with the long antennas but they can be a bother so many have replaced with the shorter antennas, willing to give up range for not getting whacked in the head.

I remove the long antenna on my RGS and replace with a short one when I place my tour pac on the bike.....I got the short flexible antenna from Walmart in the auto section.

when I bought my bike, it had a stubby 4" antenna on it. The reception absolutely sucked, but I didn't want to go back to a long whip antenna. I found a 7" flexible antenna at autozone, and its been great so far

Default HD Short Antenna

Have you looked at or tried these ? They make on for am/fm and one for the CB. It's a HD antenna.

That's what I'm using as well, so far it's been working great.

Not sure if you can do this with the cb but will work with radio. This is what I did.

That appears (?) to be what I have on the Road Glide. The higher you can mount it the better off you are as there are options, at least with my setup.

Default 12" rubber ?

When I ditched my tour pack, I needed an antenna for me radio. I made a bracket, and bought a 12" ? Rubber antenna from autobone. 10 bucks, I think it was . Works pretty good. I think a taller metal one would do better. Can't speak to the CB, never tried mine.
