Looking to replace my stock breake pads.
Are they all the same or are some better than others?

brake pads fall into different types

very generally, softer/ harder

softer will wear faster, make more dust - but tend to be quiet

harder may squeak and may require extra care on install to prevent squeaks & last longer and are cleaner.

for my 09 I got some stock pads which were cheap- and the original ones lasted and worked well, so same again.

on my evos I used EBC to good result.

because I don;t mind some extra steps and fiddling, I go for harder, cleaner, longer lasting pads

Mike

Just get stock H-D pads and put the anti-squeal application on the backs of the new pads before installing. Stock pads work fine.

I'm using EBC semi sintered pads. They last as long as the OEM and are quiet. They cost about 1/3 of the price of pads from the dealer.

I second the EBC pads. I have used them for years on HDs and thats all we ran on my sons MX race bikes. I have always had good luck with them, never priced OEM HD pads but my guess is they are priced higher than EBC
