Default Cold Cranking Pressure

I know there are some knowledgeable people on this forum when it comes to building an engine. I have a question for you guys. When looking at the factors that effect the performance of an engine build like cubic inch displacement, cam choice, compression, head flow and exhaust performance, how much of a roll in the build decision does cold cranking pressure play?

Thanks in advance for any reply's,
Darrin

It is what the build should be built around. Too much (over about 205 on the street) and it will become a ping monster, too little and it will be a dogg (less than around 185). i like to push the high side for power but lots of folks think (incorrectly imho) longevity suffers?

As Ol'hippie says, it's typically what you want to do the build around.. Getting the CCP set correctly will help you get the most out of your motor.. It will also determine at what level the bike needs to be tuned.. I usually start with heads, displacement and flow then look at setting ccp for the level of performance I want by selecting a cam and compression ratio.
