I was wondering if there were any Seattle area independents that you all would recommend? I do quite a bit of my own wrenching but on some things it would be nice to have an alternative to the local dealers.

interesting you ask. I wasn gonna take a look-see at an indy south of Seattle (down by Algona/Pacific off of 167) called Jim's Big Twins. They raised the rates that the HD shop in Tacoma/Fife to $92/hr which seems a bit 'unreasonable' to me at this point. I haven't checked 'em out yet and don't know if they do DYNO or exactly what... but sign by the shop says they specialize in HD for service and parts.

Not much on here but it might be of some use. I've heard a lot of good things about the shop in Snoqualmie.

If interested in a tacoma shop, might check out American Motorcycle http://www.americanmotorcycles.com/index.htm

Talked to the guy there and think i'll let him do my 1,000 mile service. Seemed like a pretty straight up guy...cheaper than dealer prices, of course. think he said they have a $75/hr shop rate, but wouldn't bet my life on it.

$75 an hour is cheaper than the HD service in Tacoma/Fife. I'm sure they are now up to $92/hr ... sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh... I'm in the wrong business.
