Default Automatic Primary chain tensioner

Wondering if it would be wise to go to a automatic primary chain tensioner on a 00 Ultra 1450 SE stage one and if so which self adjuster is recommended?

Hydraulic Automatic Chain Tensioner from J&P

Bill,

I just put the Harley one on my Road Glide and it seem to work ok. Only 5 or 6 hundred miles on it, I'll see better when I have 4k on it and my shifting doesn't ger sloppy.

I went with HD; it’s been on for about 1k. I love it. At first there was a winning noise. The noise has gone away after a couple of 100 miles. It was the first mod I have done myself. Next is the reduced effort clutch.

I have had a Hayden M6 on my 94 Softtail for about 10 years now.
Works great, have not messed with it yet.

Had an 04 Road King put 22,000 miles on it the first year. Had the hayden M6 from day one, never any noise smoothe as silk shifting. Just installed it on my 06 Street Glide. The best upgrade for the money.

I have the Hayden M6, I didn't know much about the Hydraulic one when I bought it. I would recommend any of them, the Hayden has served me well, nothing but rave reviews about the Hydraulic one...

Either way, it's one less maintenance step at 5K and 10K intervals, and you can ride knowing you have a properly adjusted Primary chain.

I went with Harley one, figuring if I ever did have problem on road would be easy to get parts for it. I am happy with it.

My dealer's service dept. told me the (automatic primary chain tensioner) was designed only for the 2006 Dyna and would not work on any other model. I said but it is the same engine in the EG and he told me no this engine is very different this year. I don't shop there anymore.

Ed,

Can't those guys read? Good dessision not going there!
The guys couldn't wait to put the automatic tensioner in my RG, they haven't seen one yet as there is no inspection cover on the 06 Dynas. Fine a good dealer, it ain't easy, and have it put in, you'll like it.
