What I want to do (this changes every other day) is get the screamin eagle cam plate (got hog dollars) with their upgraded oil pump and put conversion cams in it.

I've been looking to see if S&S makes conversion cams that will work with the SE plate. I know they make a plate. Is it the same thing? Their not going to say "buy my cams and use the SE plate" when their trying to sell a plate themselves.

I really want to use the S&S 509C. Will that work? I've researched my *** off and can't find anything that says it will.

Andrews makes a cam drive sprocket that should work for the chain upgrade, just wondering if it will work with the S&S cams as well?
The cam end has to match the plate. The SE is same as stock so what ever works in a stock that year, works with the plate. The bigger end cams ride on a brass bushing in the plate. Also the end has to match a sprocket that will work on the MM injection.

If you use the Screamin Eagle Cam Plate part # 25284-11, the S&S 509c Cams will work. No need for conversion cams.

Thanks!!

Will I be able to go with the new style chains or will I have to use the old ones?

Edit: I'm thinking I can run the roller chain on the front with the Andrews chain gear they offer for the early TC but not the rear chain.
Also, I will need to press bearings into the SE plate, is that correct?

You are correct, the rear chain stays. You should be ok using your front chain. Mark the chains so when you reinstall them they turn the same direction.
You will need to get the bearings & cams pressed in, any shop should be able to do it for $20-$40. The S&S kit will come with bearings.

no I haven't done cams or anything like that, if we had a trustworthy shop around here I would do some more mods. I did check the cam tensioners last Thursday, and they look great, I was surprised no change since I checked them 8000 miles ago.

I cam across some new SE 1550 flat top pistons for cheap. (Hope I didn't jump the gun). Part # 22851-99A. So it looks like I will be going with a big bore kit while I have my ultra torn down.

My question is, what SE heads would go well with this setup? When I look up these pistons it says "not compatible with HTTC heads and carburetor only.
Why carburetor only (since I'm sticking with efi) and what are HTTC heads compared to other heads?

Thanks!!

If you still have the Harley credits/bucks the Screamin Eagle CNC Ported 16500013A heads will work for $1000. You could also pick up a set of '06+ heads and have them CNC ported for $700 by Harley. Your dealer sends them back to HD.
If you go with heads with bigger intake valves you should have the valve reliefs on the pistons enlarged. Or go with the Screamin Eagle high compression pistons.
You should post you questions & a link to this thread in the Tech & Mechanical Forum in the Engine Mechanical section.
There are professional engine builders that respond & give the right advice.
