Default Bike won't start when hot burning smell and smoke

My 2009 FLHTCU will not start immediately when hot. After trying one or two times smoke will come out under the seat with a burnt smell. Bike is at the shop now for service and to install a brand new YUASA GYZ32HL battery. The bike is also spitting oil through the air filter. They are going to check the electrical system but after reading several posts in the forum I am concerned I may need a new starter clutch? I appreciate your insights

I'd check the battery terminals for tightness first thing. Oil out the intake is most likely due to over filling the crank case. Take out 1/2 qt and see if that helps.

Thanks for the call Jim. I checked with the shop and they confirmed there was one of the battery terminals not tight. Problem is solved!
