Curious if anyone has used this combination of Ram mount? Just not sure if the short double socket will get the phone far enough away from the controls without sticking up or out too far.

Don't need a lecture on having my phone disrupting my driving. I only want it for playing music from Pandora or mp3.

I have a fixed mount on my Glide, but have used a very similar set-up to that for several years on my Buell Firebolt for my satnav. Mine are a different brand although the parts look almost the same. It's great and works very well.

What you will find if you routinely remove the arm and mount (I do, they are easy to take off, hence steal), you will find you have to unscrew that central wingnut a long way to get it to go over the ball. Takes a few attempts to become good at it, but worthwhile.

I had a similar ball on a BMW (it replaced one of the 4 bolt on the handlebar bracket). It was awesome. I hate to state the obvious, but if the "short" socket provides insufficient clearance, you could always switch to a medium or long.

Thank you, I guess I'm hoping someone has used the short socket or can tell me I need to get the midsize one. Trying not to have to return a part.

That ball and arm will work fine, but not if you want the phone way over near the center of the bike. I use a comparable short ball under my mirror, and the same short arm.

I will caution with regards to the cradle. Several folk I know have lost their phones while riding with that phone cradle. It is not a secure hold on the phone. It works well enough most of the time, but not all the time. The phone can slip down and out, and under the right conditions, fling out.
