Jack up your bike just till the front wheel is off the ground, while rear is still on ground.Put your feet up on the highway pegs as if your cruising and while holding your fist up,have someone take the measurements that feels most comfortable.I didnt do this with my first bars, and my shoulder blades are killing me!I got measured up to my riding position and foundthat 16" w/5" pullback is the sweetspot for me.The bars in my sig are 12"w3" pullback.

Come on no one on here has apehangers??
Or is it that I'm asking a totally rediculous and stupid question???

I have 14 inch apes on my deluxe which also have 4 inch risers. I think you are very limited by not wanting to change the cables and lines.

As far as comfort, I can ride long distances on my deluxe without back or shoulder pains. If I had a Road King, it would have 16's on it before long......

JMHO!

Well, Thanks for all the info guys, I was at a buddy of mines house tonight and he's got a set of 12" apes on his 03 RKC and I took it for a ride, I love em. BUT---- He did not have to change any wiring or cables or nothing, The guy who installed them did a REALLY REALLY good job moving the factory throttle cables and brake lines to make them work. Nothing at all is pulled tight, Everything looks right.
I'm thinkin about going this direction, He only paid 65 buck for the bars too!!

Thanks guys Keep the info comin though.

I'm 6' tall and put 16" apes on my 99 King. I love em. The burning sensation between my shoulder blades on long rides is gone, and love the overall comfort, its great. I should have done it to my other rides. If your mechanically inclined I would try doing it youself and save a few $$$. After a couple of miles they'll feel natural. Good luck on your choice.

They feel great, just look around and test fit somebodies bike first. I tried 16", but went with the 18", and I don't regret it at all.

I have 16 inch apes on mine, but all of the cables/hardware had to be replaced. I am 6ft and they are just level with my shoulders depending on the way I set on the bike. Very comfortable though!
