Default Exhaust pre vs post 09

What is the fitment interchange given the 09 frame change

More specifically I have an 08 RK

I see the O2 bung is a different size and location in later bikes but not sure when and how this changed

I also see the change to an an udermount rear cylinder exit

Any other changes other than the bung that would affect interchange of a 2 into 1 pipe

the 09 uses same o2 sensor as the 7/8- 10+ use a smaller heated o2 sensor.

your concern would be mounting with the wider rear section of the later frame

you can get an early header and have a muffler shop weld bungs in for you.

the touring header/exhaust from evo up will fit and mount your bike- just add bungs

the prime advantage of the 2/1 header ( I'm guessing that's what you are after) is on a smaller framed bike. the touring chassis can support a large volume exhaust which is god for power on a stock or near stock motor.

the TC motors always show a stock power difference of about 3 hp on the touring models over the dyna- same motor- the exhaust is the difference.

So then an 08 and down due to the combo of the O2 sensor and narrower rear frame

Or 85 Evo to 08 TC FL, and weld in bungs. Would the mount system at the engine/transmission not be different on Evo vs TC?

Yes 2:1 due to the large muffler volume, heat reduction at the rear, and to a lesser extent on an 800 lb bike - less weight

A member wrote some time ago about fitting a later system on an earlier bike, so it can be done There's a thread about doing it around here somewhere.....

u can also run a power commander for tunning , for 07-08 it deosnt use the o2 sensors. their are a lot of aftermaket 2-1 out there fit your bike, if your trying to use a stock take off from an 2010 it will have a cat and need the o2 bung welded in. o2 bungs must be located at the right depth in the head pipe as well not the easiest thing to do.

My 08 RK does not have O2 sensors?.
I am halfway around the world from the bike now and would appreciate confirmation as my aging memory seems to recall seeing at least one

I already bought a PC-V
The plan is to buy an aftermarket 2:1 pipe and Dynojet AotoTune so the O2 question is key

So easiest to use an 18mm pre-bunged pipe, which indicates a 09 down, assuming no issues with the new frame

Anyone know if the "new" frame pipe will fit an 08

yes your rk uses o2 sensors, however the install on your pc-5 requires u to unplug the o2 sensors. if u get a head pipe for 07-08 it will have the correct bungs in the correct place. u should leave the sensors in place if u have a problem with the pc-5 u can simply unhook it and plug in the sensors, unless your tight on cash and get a smoking deal on an older head pipe; it will still fit but not have bungs.
