Goose, I had the exact same experience as you. I even did a full write up about it.

I have found that recently though, the manufacturers have caught up and realized the issue. Point in fact, I am running an OPT7 bulb, and it has a clear and defined cutoff point. Properly adjusted, it WILL NOT blind oncoming motorist. Quite honestly, I would not run it if it did. Its not as sharp and perfect as the stock halogen, but its insane bright and not expensive, and still friendly to others. While most of the older bulbs..... were not.

Aim is key to maximize the LED gains, for sure.
Ride - adjust - ride - adjust - ride.
On country roads, you cannot beat the trifecta of LEDs with the high beam wire mod.
The deer are out in HERDS down here, common to see a wall of white tails as you cruise down the road!

The Daymaker headlight and passing lights, although expensive, were hands down the best mod I did to my bike. They make you more visible and plus its easier to see while riding the dark country backroads at night.

With the Haymakers absolutely yes. BIL had stock light on his bike and next to mine there was no comparison.

Here's another comparison review. Here's my prospects 2015 Limited, with a factory Daymaker, next to my Road King with an OPT7 installed. There was no comparison....

After "flipping" my passing lamps over [14-up] I not only see so much better at night but also during the day they really stand out big time for those cager's to see. Win win IMO.

My opinion is quality LED headlights are superior in every way compared to halogens for the design intent of the light which is for the operator to see at night !!
I am a light nut and desire to have the most usable light on the road for me to see and have tried many upgrades on the Halogens over the years Candlepowerinc and Howard Stern lighting provide great advice and products to upgrade the halogens.

If you rely on your headlights for traffic visibility and safety perhaps it is time to rethink your riding strategies.

Gee St Peter I had the brightest light on my bike and the distracted lady still did not see me... lame.

Several friends have LED lights on their baggers. I find them harder so see when they are behind me at even a slight angle during the day...... Not so for those with halogens.
