I have never had locks on mine. But I don't store anything in them except wipe down towels or reflective vests. Nor have I ever had anyone mess with them (or for that matter, any part of my bike.) Maybe I have been lucky to this point.
What do you store in your lowers that would require locking them up? I am not trying to hose the idea, just better understand how others are using this quaint storage location. For instance, if I converted it to a concealed carry area, I would definitely want it locked.

I will soon be replacing them with speaker pods so for now I just put up with them, but I actually liked the leather snap on's much better. One of the snap grommets broke off that's why I replaced them.
