Default Road Glide windshield help

Ordered the tallest shield sold by Long Ride, and it seems too short. Looking over it I still have what looks to me to be about 4" and I get some pretty solid buffeting at speeds above 60mph. At 70 it's pretty annoying. My dyna with the small cafe failing is smooth as glass. I rode for about three hours yesterday and I found myself pretty distracted from my brain getting rattled. And we know distracted on a bike isn't a good thing.

The stock shield was worse, so it not going back to that. Seems strange since I'm not that tall, 6'2" with 32 inseam, which I guess means a longer torso above the seat maybe?

Clearview shields have a slightly taller shield, but I'm not convinced the extra 1/2" will do it. Also read about a HD deflector that goes down by the inside of the fork, but I can't seem to find it. Wondering if that will help too.

Love the bike, and would like to get it dialed in. And before anyone says "it's a motorcycle, you're going to feel wind" I'm perfectly fine in clear wind, it's the what feels like 4 times a second smacking me on the head buffet that's getting to me.

What are you tall folks using?

Thanks all.

My WindVest wind shield with the flip at the top works awesome for ME.

Reports show that the Klockwerks shields for RushedMores seems to work much better then the original ones.

You're punching a much bigger hole in the air with the RG. I'd suspect it's more the vacuum behind the fairing that you're feeling. Is your vent open?

Wink

This is a long shot, but on my Buell Firebolt I replaced the stock shield, which blasted the wind at my throat, with the tallest windshield I could find, which hit me in my face! There are shield extensions, targetted at the more sporty bike riders, which I have added and makes a worthwhile improvement and is adjustable to a degree. There are various styles available, some specific to a particular model, others are universal. I have one similar to the MRA X-creen Sport in this link, but there are other styles and brands available. Might be worth considering.

Thanks, I'll take a look at the suggestions. As to the question on the vents, yes, I tried opening combinations of the top and bottom vents, didn't do much unfortunately.

I like Klockwerks windshields, but I am using an older model. I have all sizes from them, I used to use 16" for touring and 12" around town. 16" worked great except when you needed to look at something directly in front of you (think potholes or steep incline) then the curve would distort the view. Then they came out with the 14" perfect for me. Now I don't even bother changing the shield, 14" is perfect for all conditions. Good luck.

All vents open with a Klockwerks 14" sport flare windshield. 70 inches tall and wear a small open face helmet and have ZERO buffeting issues. I've worn the same gear with the stock windshield and there was slight buffeting so I gotta give credit to Klockwerks

Some suggestions to improve turbulence. I have all three, and I can smoke a cigar at 70 MPH

1) hard lowers 2) engine guard mounted wind deflectors 2) Madstad windshield.

YEP,

WHEN I use to smoke ciggarates.

Hard Lowers, Fork Dog Bowl, Engine Guard, and a good Flip up shield works magic on my old 2009 Road Glide.
