Default LED Taillight Recommendation for 2013 FLHTC

I already had a white LED "bulb" in the taillight of my Electra Glide. But when I added Custom Dynamics rear signals (red lamps behind a red lens--I already had the Harley module to make the turn signals double as stop and run), the color difference didn't look great and the taillight looked anemic compared to the signals.

So I bought and instaledl a Kuryakyn Low Profile LED Taillight (Model 5436). I really like the low-profile look, and while the lamp looks okay from 100 feet back or more, it looks dim compared to the signals when you're nearer to the bike. As it turned out it also had three dead LEDs, so the seller refunded my money without requiring return of the unit.

So I am back to square one and I am hesitant to replace with the same unit.

Any suggestions for a a good, bright, quality LED taillight, preferably in a low-profile design?

Take a look at bright *** lights. I have been running a BAL-1 for three bikes now (move it from bike to bike when I buy a new one). It has three levels of brightness and many options for flashing when braking to grab attention of those behind you. They also make a lay down style. In addition, they are BCM compatible and I have no issue running it on my '14 Limited with the canbus system.

I just switched to LED signal lights and a lay down smoke tail-light, got everything from Radiantz and have been very happy with everything. All plug and play and fit perfectly. Very bright tail light, even as just a running light it is much brighter than stock when the brake was applied.

Can't go wrong with custom dynamics or BAL.

+1+1+1+1 for Bright *** Lights!!! My wife and I have them on our bikes now (making a total of 4 bikes with them). I love watching the nose of the car behind me dip down when I apply it. The cars following will immediately hit their brakes and will normally stop 20 or so feet away at stops. 21 different flash patterns to choose from. Plug and Play.

I just went with one of these. Not sure if it has the low profile that you're looking for. I'm happy with it so far.

BAL is really good,

my riding pal had one and that made my decision for me...a quick double flash on braking then a steady light 10X brighter than DOT/stock.

I got mine off the forums classifieds cheap

Another BAL vote here, I have the BAL 3 which is the laydown version. It is blindingly bright and easily the brightest I've seen, and I compared many prior to purchase. Bring your wallet, they're not cheap.

I'm running the Brightass BAL 2R WITH 12 Super LED'S. I had the smoked laydown BAL 1 on my first Road King and liked it but wanted to change the color on my Rushmore and went with their top of the line taillight. It is equivalent to flashing strobes found on a state-of-the-art police cruiser.
