I have HD heated grips since I bought my King new. Been great to have as I ride year round. No issues and they are internally wired in my bars.

I had HD grips installed and they've been great, have put on about 50,000 miles with no issues. I have heated Gerbings gloves too and the combo of the grips and gloves is the best.

I installed Avon heated grips on my RK a couple years ago - they work great! I use them a lot more often than I thought I would... Avon has heat demon heaters inside them, and there are more options for style.

I think most are the same, but you can go to the HD page of your grips. Click on the More Info tab at the bottom and download the PDF instructions, like on here.

If you wanna stick with OEM HD heated grips make sure you get the plain black grips. Those are the only 1's that last!!! Countless threads talk about the issues with the other 1's and the service manager even told me to my face the others are junk and not worth the $$$. They might not be flashy but they work and they LAST!

i had the nostalic HD coke bottle grips for 6 years and they finally died. As mentioned ,,i dont know if these are the "plain" ones but I heard the "other" Hd grips with chrome flames..ect broke faster and have hot spots?

paid 99$ 6 years ago figured wtf they were awesome so replacement ones cost 220$ wow HS oouch bit the bullet same nostalgic ones lasted 2 weeks, just got the replacements under warrenty (1Yr) in the mail and installed working good now. seriously thought of other brands even makeing my own with resistance wire but sometimes class comes into play and had to have the HD coke bottle Heated grips.

I tried the Heat Demons after installing two HD heated grips on my 06RG. The Heat Demons are ok for a warm surface to hold on to but the backs of my hands were cold. I tried the wired in heated gloves which were fine, but a hassle to link up. I bought a set of Volt gloves off of Amazon and the first set hardly warmed at all. I got a replacement set today and will try them tomorrow morning in the upper 30s for the 35 mile ride to work.
I lost the darn cable to my wired gloves.

I put the HD Streamliner heated hand grips on my '16 RK when I bought it. They've been on and working great for 17,000 miles so far. I don't think I'll ever own another bike without heated grips.

For what it's worth, even though mine have been working flawlessly I would have preferred the plain black OEM heated grips because they get better longevity reviews all over the internet and I think they'd look just a little better on my bike. The only reason I went with the Streamliners was that they were on hand and I didn't have to back order them.
