Bingo. Had to remove the front wheel of my bike recently because of a leaky bead to have it broken, cleaned and re-seated. Lifted up on a Craftsman jack. Thought it was pretty stable, but it slid forward on the jack and gave me a heart attack. The only thing that kept it on the jack is that it was strapped down. I ended up having to grab the bike with a hoist that's installed in my garage ceiling to get it back up on the jack and get the front tire back on. That bike will never get on that jack again.

I have the J&S and like it however, the instructions say to lower it down to the nearest safety position hight which is good to keep the weight off the barrel jack so I do that. BUT, my barrel jack happened to not want to work after it was up in the air and in order to get it down you have to go up a little to release the safeties on each side.......Fortunately after releasing all the pressure on the barrel jack and letting it sit for a spell it was able to lift the bike up just enough to get it back down. I bought another from J&S for $35.00 and rebuilt the other so I have a spare.

If price is not an issue the Big Bliue Lift works very well, and lifts the bike 30" off the ground. I got lucky and found a good used one. http://bigbluemotorcyclelift.com/

Oh no, not this old thread rearing its head...(Dont mention the HF gray/silver bike jack whatever ya do) and to clarify a jack is a jack and a lift table is a lift table. I would think a jack leaves the tires hanging free to be removed.

I would say nothing, I own one and it lifts my bikes successfully. But it usually starts the battle between the rich and thrifty. I personally havent had bad experiences with any bikes falling nor have I heard of any bikes falling using the HF gray jack.
