It's only 38 oz's on oil. Cost maybe five bucks to change the primary's oil.
Just maybe being **** changing the oil in the primary is why original 2010 compensator is still in my bike working fine.
This^^^. The amount of metal shavings and clutch material that comes out with the primary oil definitely has me changing the primary at least as often as the engine oil. 5k is my interval. Once a year on the tranny.

I do my primary every 3 to 5K, just like the engine, depending on use and if I'm getting ready to do on the road.
I use Liqi-Moly in he engine and just plain old 20W - 50 Delvac or Rotella in the primary. The compensator looked real good when I added the 32 tooth Primo Rivera Game Changer last summer and just a little grey metallic sludge on the magnet in the Compensaver tray.

Yep, it's a total waste. I happily waste money and change all three every time. And I have never actually been able to wait the full 5K either. I don't care what other's do, I only care about MY motorcycle and what makes ME happy.

Do you change your transmission oil every time you change your motor oil in your car.

I just follow the owner manual.

I do the same. But I don't use a synthetic in the primary. Just my pref to not use it in a clutch area so I don't need a lecture on the benefits of synthetic oil, lol

I follow the recommendations for engine and transmission, but normally change the primary every oil change in order to monitor primary. Probably overkill, but I do it anyway.

At minimum I follow the recommended intervals. Sometimes, I have it changed early...like if I need brakes or tires before the interval.

Default Primary oil change

I also change primary with the engine oil at 5,000, trans at 10. It's not much time or cost while you already have all the tools and oil out, I'm not a fan of oil contaminated with metal particles. Not only do you have the clutch and comp rolling around in that mess, there are also two bearings that I'm sure appreciate clean oil. Call it what you want, do it how you want.

Least one thing we have in common. There is no filters and one miss-shift rake dumps chips in there. If you do it yourself, it's a no brainer. About $16 for primary and transmission. I do all three when I do it. Ride year round but out of the country for Jan-March, so I really do not put a lot of miles on it. I usually skip the filter ever other time since it takes me that long to get 5K on it. I cut a few open and they are clean, so no big deal. I won't wear it out at this stage of my life if I did nothing to it.
