There are plenty of specialists out there who true alloy wheels. Being an engineer I would look at that first and get a measure of how much it might cost. I've bought secondhand wheels on Ebay at silly low prices, by being patient, which is also worth looking into.

you don't by chance have the tire and wheel esp do you? if so, let hd buy you a new wheel....

I only ask because some people are so quick to sign the paperwork when buying that they have it and don't even know they have it....

Good call scratch, but I think I only have the standard ESP. I will double check that though.

every 21" laced spoked inner tube type front wheel (3 on my night trains) became severely bent after hitting New England pot holes....none went flat and none showed any detrimental handling characteristics after. but i did eventually replace all with buys off of Ebay.

have one 21"er left (none bent yet) and am grateful for my baggers CAST aluminum rims !! (none ever bent)

Default New rim

I'd buy a new rim. I've had lots of rims for my cars over the years, living in DC, I've also had plenty of bent rims too. Rims that are bent/repaired are always weaker and tend to be prone to bending again. It's easy enough to switch out on a car but a bent rim on a bike could cost you your life, in certain conditions. It ain't worth it

I'd dismount the tire and inspect the rim under magnification, looking for fractures. The wheel can probably be trued up, if there are no signs of permanent structural damage. Looks very soft.

What did you hit to spread it open like that? Is it also out of round?

The wheels on my bike are still the lightest factory rims ever produced.

I didn't even think to check the rim, but it did not show up when I put the tire in water.

Noticed the leak is more prevalent now that it is colder and looked again today.
Rim is bent, and I am wondering what my options are here.

Hoping to hear from somebody who knows more than me (a large window) if I should think about having the rim repaired or replacing.
Had this 2015 FLHX a little over a year with 18500 miles.

I will try to post a pic.
Thanks in advance for any input guys.
Get a new rim. Instead of the 19 in get the 18 in. You will have more sidewall and a lesser chance of bending the rim. The ride will be better also.

Get a dead blow hammer, give it a couple of good whacks, check for leaks and go on down the road. I've done that a couple of times, no issues. YMMV

anything with tires and wheels was explained to me like this.

Seeing as the wheel and tires are the only thing connecting you to the planet , make sure they are in top shape, otherwise when you reconnect it will probably hurt.
