rode em both back to back. RG smokes the SG on handling especially on the highway at speed. what a difference. one thing i dont like is the gauge layout on the RG and how its a more open cockpit feel. the SG feels more of a closed cockpit as the dash board is tilted towards the rider more. gives you a more secure feeling and u tend to stay dryer in a rainstorm on the SG from what my buddy says

I had both a 14 sgs and a 16 rgs and just recently sold the sgs had no use for it. The rgs wins hands down. The new rg is absolutely the best riding harley there is,and even my buddies that hate them will say that. All i know is that the bike is like being on rails no matter what the conditions are. I can let go of the bars on the windiest of days at 70 plus mph and she wont budge from the line i want to take. So like others have stated in the end its all up to you so test one out before anything.

Only thing is without a good windshield the rain will get ya real good on a rg......

Had my SG for 2 years. Now I have a RG. Will never go back. I'd pick RG every day again and again.

When I was shopping couldn't find a shark cheap enough (knowing I was was gonna change everything) so settled for a bat. Kicking myself ever since... but go ride them.

Default Road Glide

The new Road Glide Special handles just as well as my Dyna in that the turn in is instant. It is also a lot lighter than the 13 and previous years. The new rear shocks are a vast improvement over the old air shocks too.
The salesman said except for the fairing, the new Street Glide and Road Glide are the exact same bikes. I don't know about that but it is the best handling bagger I have ever ridden and the M8 is a real upgrade from the air cooled 103.

lets be honest ,if the rg an sg were priced the same there would be more rg's....which in turn would be 50-50 at any bike gathering.....rg's are more expensive, does that make them better??eh, I doubt it

That's always been the case. Same engine, same trans, same frame etc. Fairing is main difference and of course that changes the reach and feel.

I switched from a SG to a RG. Like the handling much better, especially going into and through corners. No wind buffeting at all on the RG. It may show as being 25 lbs heavier, however I cannot feel it in that fairing. Feels very stable at 70 mph+ which my SG did not. Ergo's were not hard to get used to, once you get the hand controls down. I catch a little more wind on the RG, rolls up my arms and hits me in the neck and head. However I get none in the lower waist area and top of the thighs like I did on the SG. Don't let the stock bars sour you, they are awful imo and are designed for easy cruising. If you like aggressive handling go with the chisel low's HD sells. I did and can't believe how much better it handles now. And there are deals to be had especially if you are not trading, good luck!

I traded my 2012 Road Glide for a 2014 Street Glide Special three weeks ago.
