Easy job, not sure if the switch has changed in the 08 bikes, but on my 02 it was a doddle.
Switch housing apart, unclip the old switch and cut the wires some distance down the loom (I went back as far as I could without cutting the existing shroud. Re-solder the new one in and heat shrink, bolt back up!
Don't buy the HD one, its crazy money - find an aftermarket one, £60 vs. £14 in the UK!
