I know DK is a respected sponsor of this forum,but that looks like a shi**y solution looking for a problem.
All that rubber hose on my bike? No way.
copper fitting on my bike? no way
Oil filter hanging off the side like a sore d**k? no way.

That's why I thought hard lines. A bit of creative bending and you could shed some heat underneath. I hate the mess too. I switched to a washable oil filter late last season and haven't dropped to oil yet. I don't know if it will be better but like you I can't seem to master getting the filter off without it dribbling down the front and making a mess. That's almost reason enough for me too.
