I only see two 'cons' to this setup

1. The cheap gear clamps on the hoses.
2. (copy/paste from the website - emphasis mine) This Cool-n-Clean Oil Filter Relocation Kit was specifically designed to allow you to lean all the way over in a curve, still leaving plenty of clearance between the filter and the ground. Because of it being tucked tight and high, the left side passenger floorboard can only use the top and middle position.

Edited the first post to include pictures of the hose routing/clearances and covering the brass fittings with black plasti-dip.

Very interesting, good pics. It's not so much getting at the filter in the stock location that I find a pain, it's the little drip of oil you get on the garage floor for several days after changing the oil that bugs me. Oil runs in around the oil cooler and I can't get at it with a rag to wipe it off. I may look at doing this, though I have a center stand so I'd have to check if that would be an issue for clearance.

I was thinking about that, since I ran a center stand for nearly a year. I don't run it now, and don't plan to again, but as I was under there I was thinking about it...

The center stand that I have mounts under the flat plate that is welded between the frame rails, with a bolted-down arm that grabs it over the top of that plate and one frame rail. I'm pretty sure that hose clearance wouldn't be an issue, but the location of the lever arm on the side of the bike by the primary case probably would be.

All the best,

Shane

The filter for a TC like my 06, mounts on the front down tube. I may have to invest in one of these!! Thanks.

Just make sure you remember to get that rag out of there or you might end up with a fire!
I like the idea, and appreciate the write up. However I think all that oil that I get under there might keep my junk from rusting one day.

Right, I changed out my oil this weekend ( Amsoil ) and I tried not to make a mess but I did. I tried using the H.D plastic deal thing, cardboard, aluminum foil, two litter bottle, nothing, only a mess. I keep my garage really clean and I hate it when oil spills on it, let alone my pride and joy. I'm going this route. .

I know this is an old post but, any updates? Everyone happy with this that did it? I have bought my parts but just checking prior to adding this to my bike this winter! I have to install oil cooler anyways so good time to do both.
