+1 I was having this same problem on my '07 Ultra getting me worried that I'd not get it started after fueling up out in the sticks but doing this it has never failed yet.
Yup, same problem I had ' 10 RK and hitting the starter quickly when hot cured mine. Learned it on this forum. Worth a try, nothing to lose. Good luck

I've never understood why folks wait for the light to go out anyway. You don't do it on your vehicles. The bike is no different and it works every time.
Had the same problem with my 2006 Road King and found it was the ground point on the frame. On the Road King there are 2 and they are located under the seat try cleaning them. Just make sure you follow the service manual on how to disconnect them.
This is an important point as the battery terminal connections may be fine a bad frame ground would be the same as a bad terminal connection. With the ageof the bike i would at least dissconect that and clean the terminal and the frame even if the battery was found to be suspect.
I have a similar problem as you. For instance when I commute to work and shut the bike off while I open the yard gate it struggles to turn over. Now for any short periods when the bike is hot I will leave it running. getting fuel seams to be ok because it takes a bit more time before I restart it.
Instead of waiting for the light to go out before you start it, hit the starter as soon as you turn the ignition on. Guarantee you it will start easier.
^^^^ THIS!! I had hard cold and hot starts so bad I was considering selling my 07 Street Glide. Someone on here posted to turn the ignition and fire it off immediately disregarding the engine light. Since I've been doing this I've had no issues.

You were 100% correct. I tried this and bike starts perfectly! Thank you very much!!

Where do you find the ground contacts on the frame? Any pictures? I have had hard hot and cold starting. Thx
My 07 Ultra Classic grounds to the frame in the compartment in front of the battery. There are two frame grounds there.
The easiest way to find the frame ground is to follow the black ground wire away from the battery until it attaches to the frame my it doesn't go far.
