Virginia / West Virginia Trip Advice

Wife and I don't do the "nightlife" when touring. We might grab a bottle of wine and and a 40 to bring back to the room. With that said, we tend to stay at Hampton Inns when we travel (my company prefers the Hilton chain so I rack up points thru work and use them when vacationing). In Elkins, we always stay at the Hampton - it sits on top of a hill all by itself so safe parking. In Waynesboro, we stay at Hampton and eat at the deli next door. Again, nothing close so feel good parking there. Wish I could help with the nightlife but we're old....

Hey all - OP here.
Thank again for the advice/recommendations and links.
We've got plenty of options to consider for our 4-day trip. We're planning overnights in Staunton, VA, and Elkins, WVa (or thereabouts), and Cumberland, MD.
Any suggestions for bars/restaurants and hotels in Cumberland, MD??
Thanks again!

Some thoughts. PM me if you want. I live about 10 minutes east of the 81 Winchester exit, and would be happy to ride for a few hours with you guys if you want.
From 81 I'd go East on 7 to 601 South at the top of the Blue Ridge. Stop at the Bears Den Overlook, pass the TWA flight 514 crash site, go past the use to be secret, but still damn secure and spooky Mt. Weather facility; west on 50, left before the Shenandoah on Rt 638 Howellsville Rd. to Front Royal the back way following the river past White Horse Rock. When you get to Front Royal consider taking 55 South to Fort Valley road. Fort Valley road was built by Daniel Morgan at the order of George Washington as a last ditch defense for the continental army, might want to check out the Woodstock Tower and be cautious around the 5MPH posted turn! Pick up Skyline Drive at Luray (211).
