I just got an email from Namz saying they have a complete extended harness for controls and TBW that requires no soldering and can be used on 16" or 18" bars. Sounds like the way to go.

Sounds very much like the set up I used. You plug the connectors together, heat shrink everything and off you go. No soldering whatsoever.

I used Harlys plug and play extensions...i have the 1 1/4 clamp mount on mine a 1 1/2 would not be but 1/8 in per side more....and its not a riser for the poster that said they look stupid...its just a bigger clamp....no riser,, no height added and yes its all is covered by the nancel ... i have Carlini evil apes...and the quality is awesome... here is a pic with the 1 1/4 clamp with a CVO bar

Okay so I finally ordered my 16" Gangster Apes (1.50") today after Carlini took them off of backorder. Is there anything that would help me in my attempt to install these myself? Can any of you offer some pointers that would make this go easier?

I will be replacaing the Bushings but not sure of which brand to go with.
I will also be ordering the Plug & Play harnesses from Namz.
I am still not sure which clutch cable and brake lines to go with just yet.

Any help is much appreciated.

Rich.

I went with the Namz plug and play kit and I found the connections were not to secure for my liking. so I cut and soldered, shrink wrapped, and used an electrical sheath that secures the wires tightly as you pull them through the bars..The job went so smoothly. I was able to keep the green plug which is used for heated grips. IMO soldered the wires. Good luck to you my friend.

I have been pricing out brake lines and clutch cables for the 16" gangster apes and I am a little confused about the upper, mid, and lower lines. Do I NEED to do all three? The price for the lower lines are $230 in Chromite from magnum, OUCH! plus another $70 for uppers, plus another $100 for mid's. Not to mention another $100 for the clutch cable. WOW!! An added $500 for just lines!!!!!!!
Am I missing something here?? What can I do to save some $$$$$?

Just wondering if I need to do the lower brake lines?

No, you do not need to do the lower abs lines. Just the upper and mid. I just did 14" apes on my RK with ABS. Used +8 clutch and +6 brake (Magnum cables). I used the HD wiring extension. I was barely able to make the throttle wire fit, so i would suggest an extension for 16s.
