Default Clutch/Primary Noise

I recently changed my fluids a few weeks ago. I've ridden quite a few miles since. This evening I went out for a ride and all of a sudden I started getting some grinding type noises when pulling the clutch in and changing gears. It took a few time before I figured out that if I didn't pull it all the way in, it wouldn't do it. I nursed it and got home, parked in front of the shed in neutral, and it was making a hissing/grinding noise the whole time. I pulled the clutch in some to put it in gear and drive it up the ramp and cut it off. What's my problem? Thanks.

Default noise

You don't mention the miles but inner primary bearing is a good candidate and also your clutch basket bearing only turns when you disengage the clutch so either way your primary needs pulled. Chances are your compensator and both bearings are due if you're above 30,000 miles and everything is original. Not a hard job to do if you educate yourself, in less than an hour you will find the problem by pulling primary cover. Tons of info online

Thanks, yes, sorry for not posting the miles. It's right at 38k.

Turns out this was the starter engaging. The start switch on the handlebar was bad. So when I pulled in the clutch all the way, the starter would try to engage but it was already running. When I started it to load on the trailer to take it to repair, I put it in neutral, turned the ignition to on, and the damn thing started itself. I didn't even touch the start button. I got it to the dealer, the me and the service guy started it, and it did the same thing.

Glad you found it.
For me, that's the kind of stuff that if I took it somewhere, it would behave perfect and not do it again until I got it back home!
Thanks for posting...

I noticed lately while riding in a straight line there was no noise, but if I leaned one way or the other I heard a howl echoing up, now just the other day as I was coming home, I noticed a harmonic howl going straight line.
Does this sound like a symptom of an IPB? Im on extended warranty, Im figuring maybe IPB or Compensator, I want to describe it kind of accurately when I take it in.
