Default 110th Anniversary starter motor issue

My dealer has not heard of this fault before. Basically my starter motor will start the bike no problem at all. However, turn the ignition switch when the bike is in neutral and the bike will start without hitting the starter switch. Also when riding, if I come to a stop, engine still running and either pull in the clutch or put it into neutral the starter motor starts spinning and the only way to stopit is to flick the starter switch. We've stripped down the starter solenoid and cleaned the contacts but no joy. Any ideas from anyone?

the starter circuit is VERY basic.

this points to a shop which is STUPID!

either the starter switch is stuck or the starter relay is stuck

anyone with basic electrical knowledge would be able to sort this in minutes.

Welcome to the Forums.

we have a number of members in the UK, you should post your location and you'll get some local knowledge of shops to avoid, shops to use

some shops and technicians just do not understand the basics of electricity

if you were ever to have this occur when riding, once the bike is started, pull the green wire off of the solenoid.

Hello old chap, from somewhere not too far away! Where are you located? Mike above has analysed the likely problem, just a matter of ferreting away to find and rectify it. Does your bike have any electrical mods, different handlebars, an internal wiring job, or anything of that sort?
