the thing I hate most is the gray background with the white streets, you can barely see them and the dirt roads are black. They stand out fine, who ever designed it that way should be fired. Try reading it with polarized glasses on, it is impossible.

When I had a Garmin and was active on one of their forums, polarized glasses were frequently cited as causing viewing problems. Have you tried non-polarized glasses?

yes of course, I do not use them because I can't see anything with them. With regular glasses you can barely see the roads if you zoom out, and if you are zoomed in then you can't see enough of the map to know where you want to go.

Do you have "High Contrast" selected?
I only ask because my HD Nav display looks every bit as good as my Garmin.
The background on my HD Nav display is not gray with white streets.
Hold your "Info" button in for a few seconds and see if the display changes.
If it is in High Contrast mode, it will switch to color mode.
