Default Reduced Reach?

With the chance of asking a dumb question, I'm going to give it shot anyway? What does the term "Reduced Reach" actually mean? I have a 2012 Road King and the reduced reach handlebars shown in the catalog (56166-08) has a pull back of 5.5". The stock bars have a pull back of 7". The catalog states reduced reach has a 2" greater pull back from the stock bars. Does the rise make a difference in the equation? I have been on a 2014 Road King and like the comfort the closer bars have. I would like to sit more upright.

I would think that is based upon the handle bars the used in '08. 56166-08

Could be wrong, but I have an older model reduced reach handle bar on my '99 and it did the job.

Welcome from NC.

I think the pull back numbers for the reduced reach bars are compared with the RK OEM bars for the pre-Rushmore bikes. Your '14 RK has the 'Heritage-Style' bars, or at least the same dimensions as with the 56902-08 bars. This bar already has a 3" pull back from the 08-13 RK bikes. If you need more pull back with your existing bars, you can roll it back to gain an extra couple inches.

It looks like the '08 and the'12 have the same handlebars. I do appreciate your reply.

Ahhh. Misread your post. Thought you had a '14 RK.

Yes, the 56902-08 bars will get you more pull back and is the same as on the '14 RK. Just roll it back to get it closer to you.

I have a 'chubby' version of the 56902-08 bars (I wanted internal wiring and fatter bars). I have it rolled back a bit and I sit upright and more relaxed.

I have an 09 Heritage Deluxe and I'm very short 5'4". I want the reduced reach bars for my girl, but I'm worried I have to replace all the cables and lines. Any suggestions?
