The RK's are a good balance between a "cruiser" and a "touring" motorcycle and they look and ride great!

I had a '96, and "we" have an '03, both "hard baggers".

No serious issues with either (the '03 is a true garage Queen).

Our neighbor has an '02 RKC and he experienced the "injector wire" issue as have others. In his case, the electrical harness was wire strapped so tightly to the frame that it eventually "chaffed" the wire insulation, grounded it into the frame.

As for the cam chain tensioners, I talked to one guy who lost an engine on an '03 Fat Boy at 25,000 miles, so I'd think that they might be a good interval to check/replace them. I had the S/E Hydraulic Cam Chain adjuster kit installed in my '00 Ultra and I could see an increase in oil pressure.

So I'm not getting an RKC for myself now, so I'm shopping with my son for his RKC LOL.

Well, picked her up today. Some updates, in case I didnt mention.
First, the cam tensioners were done, when the bike was brought into the dealership. So, thats not something I need to worry about.
New tires as well.
The bike didnt have a windshield, the owner of the dealership threw one on there-free.
Rode it home today. Wow, what a ride! The windshield makes all the difference. The ride feels amazing. I was on the highway doing 75, without realizing it.
I do need to get used to the different sound. My sporty was LOUD. This is quiet (comparatively). I can hear the wind popping over the windshield.
I am at work for the next 16 hours. All I want to do is ride

Congrats on the King!

Now get an extension on your Visa's credit line for the mods! And if you don't like the heal shifter you can just remove it. I tried to like it on mine but never felt comfortable with it, so it's in the toolbox.

Brand new rear tire.
Brand new cam tensioner (so, that one issue, is no longer an issue).
I shopped banks, got the rate I wanted, at the payments I wanted, so I pulled the trigger. Picking her up tomorrow.
Lets see if I can load pics:

Hey oldsoldier, Nice ! I'm not a TC Fan, But, if I had to own one, it would be a 99-02, because of the forged crank. Our present for H-D's Birthday was a 5 piece Cast Crank, pressed together, prone to scissoring. Can you tell us what a 15 year old RK is worth today ? What Mass. Dealer did you use ? My friend is a Certified H-D Master Tech since 1972, worked for the Oldest H-D Dealer in Mass. for 40 years, his rate is $70. an hour. He has built & raced Nitro Harley's ! Does the 181 mean, what I think it means, letters in the alphabet? I'm in Worcester, where are you ? I wish you Good Luck & Safe Riding, Boston Jim,

The dealer had it listed at $10k, but I got it less than that. Plus, I traded in my 07 roadster, which dropped the price another $2500. All in all, I was VERY happy.
I picked it up at American HD in Leominster. Philly is the owner. Great guy-the entire dealership is fantastic. I really have nothing but good things to say about them.
The 181 is the Infantry unit I last served in (I was B co in Gardner)
