Talk me outa buying a Road King

Sorry I cant convince you since I own one. It's one of the best bikes out there. A lot more versatile than the rest of the line up.
If you want a touring bike with no infotainment, this bike is for you. The infotainment system is rather useless and not really needed. You can easily add music by putting a headset on your helmet and not annoy people around you with whatever shitty music you like to play Rap, country, R&B, oldies, classic rock. No one wants to hear that **** at full blast.
Can you imagine seeing an old white guy playing F the police by NWA on full blast? Yeah, me neither.

OP -
Another vote for the RK! My favorite of the HD touring bikes. I went from a '04 Fat Boy to a '14 Road King with no regrets.
I like the versatility of the RK. A great cruiser stripped down for day rides, and plenty of bike for touring. Same touring frame as the other touring models. With a detachable passenger backrest, luggage rack and T-bags you can carry lots for trips. I use my windshield only on long trips at lower temps, especially if interstates are involved. The RK covers all scenarios...
I agree with those who said to take advantage of the deals for 2014-2016 models (new or used). There's no need to pay a premium for a 2017 with marginal enhancements, unless you have the desire and $$...and you won't have to worry about new model bugs/longevity.
Great looks, power, handling and comfort. The RK is the epitome of motorcycles IMHO. What's not to like...
Good luck!

I had an Electra Glide Classic prior to this '09 Road King. It was a great bike, but I found myself running it without the tourpak and wishing I had a Road King. When that bike got wrecked I bought this one brand new and haven't ever regretted it.
The Road King can morph from a stripped-down boulevard cruiser with solo seat and no windshield to a full-on touring machine with shield, Tourpak, etc in about 5-10 minutes. If I want music I use ear buds and get much better sound than I did with the speakers in the fairing.
